Karen Mok and Eason Chan in Badminton Olympic final 2012

Lee Chong Wei vs Lin Dan Olympic match

The Olympics in London are coming to an end, the dust has settled after the nail-biting badminton match of the year,
but if you like me watched the live telecast of the match that day, and if you were eagle-eyed like me *perasanmax*,
you would have noticed an irregularity. An irregularity in the crowds. If you caught the 5 seconds pan-out to the audience, you would have seen this.

Xie XinFang, Lin Dan's wife wearing the Chinese team uniform. The irregularity was not the fact that  she was the
only one wearing the China badminton squad team uniform in the crowd . The irregularity was the fact that sitting next to her is a familiar face, in the form of Hong Kong/Welsh singer, actress, Karen Mok in shocking pink!

The next time the camera panned Xie Xin Fang's direction, Karen Mok had undoubtedly made her way away from
the focus of the camera's attention (Xie Xin Fang) and changed seats. She appeared to have come to accompany
Xie Xin Fang.

The lady who was sitting one seat away to the right of Xie Xin Fang in the first picture, then took over Karen Mok's
seat for the rest of the match.

Even more preplexing. What was Eason Chan doing at the match. But most of all why did he cry when Lin Dan won? Or perhaps he was crying for Lee Chong Wei?

Erm.. i think his tears were for Lin Dan la.

Next question: Ok i get it that the camera kept panning Xie Xin Fang because she's the wife of Lin Dan and former Olympic Silver medalist (the commentators don't even know who Karen Mok is), but why U No Pan Wong Mew Chew?

I found a pic of them (courtesy of candyleow83's weibo), seated behind Lee Yong Dae fans.

These two are getting married too! London Olympic cameraman please do your background research! (Loving the Chanel bag btw).

Pros and Cons of Coffee

The Pros and Cons of Coffee Drinking

Mmm... coffee, the aroma, the flavor. It makes mornings so much better! But is our daily cup of coffee doing more harm than good? There is a lot of research concerning both the negative and the positive effects of coffee drinking.

The "Pros"

  1. Antioxidants. Coffee is loaded with antioxidants like chlorogenic acid and melanoidins. Antioxidants help prevent oxidation, a process that causes damage to cells and contributes to aging. Melanoidins from roasted coffee have antioxidative effects depending on the way the coffee is treated.

  2. Parkinson's disease. Regular coffee consumption reduces the risk of Parkinson's disease. A number of studies [1],[2] have demonstrated that people who drink coffee on a regular basis are significantly less likely to develop Parkinson's disease.

  3. Diabetes. Coffee consumption is potentially protective against the development of type 2 diabetes. A prospective cohort study as part of the US Nurses Health Study found that moderate consumption of both caffeinated and decaffeinated coffee may lower the risk of type 2 diabetes in younger and middle aged women.

  4. Liver cirrhosis. Coffee drinking may protect against liver cirrhosis, especially alcoholic cirrhosis.

  5. Gallstones. There is some evidence that coffee drinking may be protective against gallstone formation in both men and women.

  6. Kidney stones. Coffee consumption lowers the risk of kidney stones formation. Coffee increases the urine volume, preventing the crystallization of calcium oxalate, the most common component of kidney stones.

  7. Improved mental performance. Caffeine in coffee is a well-known stimulant. Coffee promotes alertness, attention and wakefulness. The cup of coffee can also increase information processing.

  8. Alzheimer's disease. Regular coffee consumption seems to protect against Alzheimer's disease. Recent mousestudy showed that caffeine equivalent to 5 cups of coffee per day reduced the build up of destructive plaques in the brain.

  9. Asthma. Caffeine in coffee is related to theophylline, an old asthma medication. Caffeine can open airways and improve asthma symptoms.

  10. Caffeine safety. In 1958, caffeine was placed on the Food and Drug Administration's list as generally recognized as safe (GRAS).
The "Cons
  1. Heart disease. The relation between coffee consumption and risk of cardiovascular disease has been examined in many studies, but the results remain controversial. Most prospective cohort studies have not found coffee consumption to be associated with significantly increased cardiovascular disease risk.

On one hand, diterpenes cafestol and kahweol present in unfiltered coffee and caffeine each appear to increase risk of coronary heart disease. High quality studies have confirmed the cholesterol-raising effect of diterpenes. Coffee consumption is also associated with an increase of plasma homocysteine, a risk factor for coronary heart disease.

On the other hand, a lower risk of heart disease among moderate coffee drinkers might be due to antioxidantsfound in coffee.Besides that, caffeine can increase the risk of heart attack, especially among those people who carry the "slow" gene variant for the enzyme that metabolizes caffeine.

  2. Cholesterol. Heavy consumption of boiled coffee elevates blood total and LDL cholesterol ("bad cholesterol") levels. Unfiltered coffee contains two cholesterol-raising compounds cafestol and kahweol.

  3. Blood vessels. Coffee negatively affects the blood vessel tone and function (increases arterial stiffness and wave reflections).

  4. Heart rhythm disturbances. Coffee can cause rapid or irregular heartbeats (cardiac arrhythmias).

  5. Blood pressure. Although coffee consumption is not a significant risk factor for hypertension, it produces unfavorable effects on blood pressure and people prone to hypertension may be more susceptible. Recent Italian study found that coffee drinking can slightly increase the risk for development of sustained hypertension in persons with elevated blood pressure.

  6. Osteoporosis. Coffee intake may induce an extra urinary excretion of calcium. Heavy coffee consumption (4 cups=600 ml or more) can modestly increase the risk of osteoporosis, especially in women with a low calcium intake.

  7. Heartburn. A cup of coffee can trigger heartburn.
  8. Sleep
  9. Sleep. Most of us are aware of the stimulatory effects of caffeine. High amounts of caffeine taken before going to sleep, can cause restlessness and difficulty falling asleep, tendency to be awakened more readily by sudden noises, and a decreased quality of sleep. However, some people can drink coffee and fall right asleep.

  10. Dehydration. The caffeine in coffee is a mild diuretic and can increase urine excretion. This effect may be easily neutralized by drinking an extra glass of water.

  11. Dependence. Caffeine is a drug, a mild central nervous system stimulant, and it produces dependence. Caffeine withdrawal is a real syndrome. You may get a few days of headache and irritability if you choose to quit drinking coffee, however, it is relatively easy to break this habit, and most people are not addicted to caffeine.
So, what is the key? The old principle - "everything in moderation" - holds true for coffee. It is not bad unless you abuse it. Coffee has its downsides, but offers enough good points to make it a worthwhile drink. For moderate coffee drinkers (3-4 cups/day providing 300-400 mg/day of caffeine), there is little evidence of health risks and some evidence of health benefits. And for sure you can enjoy your coffee as part of a healthy diet.

Fruits and Fruits juice help cure Cancer

TRY 100PLUS & WATER

TRY 100PLUS & WATER - NOT PANADOL!!!

DON'T TAKE PANADOL AND PANADOL ACTI FAST AND PANADOL SOLUBLE
especially
if you have gastric problems FYI... One real story from a friend....

My husband was working in a hospital as an IT engineer, as the
hospital is planning to set up a database of its patient. And he knows
some of the doctors quite well.

The doctors used to tell him that whenever they have a headache, they
are not willing to take PANADOL (PARACETMOL) In fact, they will turn
to Chinese Herbal Medicine or find other alternatives.

This is because Panadol is toxic to the body, and it harms the liver.
According to the doctor, Panadol will reside in the body for at least
5 years. And according to the doctor, there used to be an incident
where an air stewardess consumes a lot of panadol during her menstrual
as she needs to stand all the time. She's now in her early 30's, and
she needs to wash her kidney (DIALYSIS) every month.

As said by the doctor that whenever we have a headache, that's because
it is due to the electron/Ion imbalance in the brain. As an
alternative solution to cope with this matter, they suggested that we
buy 1 or 2 cans of isotonic drink ( eg.100PLUS), and mix it with
drinking water according to a ratio of 1:1 or 1:2 (simply, it means
one cup 100plus, one cup water.or 2 cups water).

Me and my husband have tried this on several occasions, and it seems
to work well.

Another method will be to submerge your feet in a basin of warm water
so that it bring the blood pressure down from your throbbing head.

As Panadol is a pain killer, the more Panadol you take, the lesser
would be your threshold for pain (your endurance level for pain).

We all will fall ill as we aged, for woman, we would need to go
through childbirth. Imagine that we had spent our entire life popping
quite a substantial amount of Panadol (Pain Killer) when you need to
have a surgery or operation, you will need a much more amount of
general anesthetic to numb your surgical pain than the average person
who seldom or rarely takes Panadol .. If you have a very high intake
of Panadol throughout your life (Migraine, Menstrual cramps) it is
very likely that normal general anesthetic will have no effects on you
as your body is pumped

full with panadol and your body is so used to pain killer that you
would need a much stronger pain killer, Morphine??

Value your life, THINK b4 you easily pop that familiar pill into your
mouth again. Please send this to people you care about.

Apple iphone 5 Final LEAKED ?

LEAKED !!Apple iphone 5 photo

For at least a year, it’s been rumored that the iPhone 5 would have a near-field communications (NFC) radio chip, which could eventually be used to support electronic payments or other proximity-based services. But a new iOS 6 app — Passbook — unveiled at Apple’s recent Worldwide Developers Conference is seen by some as a precursor to a more fully developed e-payment infrastructure for the iPhone, an infrastructure that may not need a chip at all, at least at first.

Let's wait for the official launching.....

Kek Lok Si Penang the  finest Buddhist Temple that sits at the hills of Ayer Itam. The symbolic and unique characteristic of Kek Lok Si is made well known not only to locals but also to the mass population of Malaysia. It is like a name that closely related to history of Penang as a whole. This temple has become  one of the top tourist attractions in Penang that is frequent by travelers all around the world. History of  Kek Lok Si Temple Founded more than 100 years ago by benevolence Beow Lean, a devout Buddhist from Fujian province, the temple was once given the name of "Huock San" (Crane hill) due to the hills resemblance of crane spreading its wings Between the year 1891 to 1905, constructions to build one of the greatest Buddhism temples in Malaysia has finally take shape that consist of series of monasteries, prayer halls, temples and beautiful landscaped gardens. Kek Lok Si Temple even received an imperial sanction Manchu Emperor Kwang Xi, who bestowed a tablet and gift of 70,000 volumes of the Imperial Edition of the Buddhist Sutras and some others relics that still exist today. A hand written scripts and calligraphy by His Majesty Emperor Kuang Xi and Empress Cixi of the Ching Dynasty has also been presented to the temple. Penang Food " Passions of Karala "

Passion of Karala

Located in the center of  Gelugor (Taman Brown) lies probably one of the best banana leaf rice in Penang. One probably won't know about this restaurant unless told about it or recommended by someone they know. It seems to be the only restaurant (and probably business) that operates in this quiet neighbourhood.

This restaurant is open from  12.00-3.30pm for lunch and 6.00-10.30pm for dinner. During weekdays, most of the customers during lunch time seem to be employees from the Bayan Lepas FIZ.
The main dish is of course banana leaf rice. The day I went, they served tomato rice, besides the usual white rice. So, I decided to give it a try. The vegetable dishes that they gave were long beans, pickled vegetables and mixed vegetables (brinjal, raddish, pumpkin and carrot in what seem to be tikka sauce) and pudina. For the curry to go with the rice, the main choices are chicken, fish and mutton curry. I prefer mine with fish curry, which was pretty good. I have tried chicken curry which is pretty good as well.

You can request for more potatoes with the chicken curry. I like mutton mutton curry as my side dish and fried fish. The good thing about this place is that they usually fry the meat just as you order it. So, the food comes hot and crunchy. They might have special dishes on certain days, so check out the menu in front of the shop.

The mango lassi drink is very popular here. I have to say, it is nice but a tad to sweet. You might want to ask them to put less sugar.

Menu of Passion Karala

Overall, the food here is very good. The price is reasonable too. The shop is not very big (I counted about 12 tables on the ground floor). I think there might be more tables upstairs, but I didn't check it out. Unless you don't have a choice, I suggest that you should avoid the lunch crowd as it can get pretty packed.
Because it is quite hard to find the place, even when you have gone there before, I have drawn out the directions to the place.
